May the 4th Be With You in Denver

My favorite theme night in all of professional sports has to be Star Wars night.

From Minor League Baseball to Nascar to the NLL to the NBA, every pro sports league has participated in a Star Wars night except the MLL…until now!

Mostly all geeks, nerds and fan boys know that May 4th is Star Wars day, for one reason only, so that fans all over can say, “May the FOURTH Be With You” and if you’re really a fan, you may throw in an “Always.”

Well May 4th, 2014 falls on a Sunday which means the MLL can play! If it was on a Wednesday, I’m willing to bet this event wouldn’t be taking place. Pro sporting events all over will be celebrating Star Wars night on this Sunday, and now it’s the Denver Outlaws turn to get in on the fun!

The X Wing Project posted a preview of a few of the famous Star Wars pilot helmet lined up in Sports Authority Field, home of the Outlaws.

Following the sneak preview, the Outlaws released some notes about the game and included mockups of the custom jerseys the Machine and Outlaws will be sporting this weekend.

The Outlaws are partnering with the local 501st Legion and Rebel Legion to provide the costumed Star Wars characters.

I’m not sure where you can bid on them but all of the jerseys will be signed and auctioned off after the game with all proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.

The organization collaborated with Lucas Films and Warrior lacrosse to design the custom jerseys.

The Colorado Mammoth already had one Star Wars night in Denver this year and it was pretty darn successful. It was awesome to see all of the fans dressed in their favorite gear from a galaxy far, far away.

Visit the Outlaws’ website for more info on the event and to purchase tickets for the game.

The opening whistle is at 3pm MST on Sunday, May 4th at Sports Authority Field.
